Four To Try From ELF

ELF are a brand that really bring back makeup memories for me, I can remember back in the early days of blogging everyone raved about their products and I soon fell for the hype. I always used to stalk the website for the 50% codes they used to do and when they did my inner makeup addict came out and I was out of control... never trust a makeup addict with a discount code! Over the years I've tried my fair share of products and I'm now lucky enough to be a member of the ELF Beauty Squad - yes I did cry happy tears when I saw that email in my inbox!

US NYX Haul + First Impressions

I still can't believe it's somehow been just over 8 weeks since we headed off to New York, I can't even begin to describe how much I miss it! From the afternoon walks around Central Park to the bright lights of Times Square, I absolutely can't wait to go back - I've even been looking up deals for next year already! I'm officially in love with a city thousands of miles away *sobs eternally* but I will be back! Whilst we was there we went to a mall which happened to have a NYX store in and I was one happy makeup addict. I love NYX, I have done for years now with their quality products at low prices.

Clinique Moisture Surge Intense Review

I've mentioned a few times on my blog now that I've switched up my skincare routine over the past couple of months to really focus on clearing up my acne scarring and any remaining blemishes I'm battling. During this time I've gradually added various products into my routine, but just after the travelling (and of course rubbish eating!) I did in New York I noticed my skin started to become a lot drier than usual and I realised I didn't have a super hydrating moisturiser in my skincare stash. After some serious online research (I spend waaaay too much time reading reviews before actually purchasing) I decided to go for the Clinique Moisture Surge Intense.

My Current Everyday Spring Beauty Staples

Spring time makeup is my favourite, I love all the new product releases and for me I use the change of season to switch up my everyday makeup routine for a much softer and effortless look. Whilst my makeup routine tends to change everyday as I'm always trying new products, I've just found myself going for a similar more muted 'I woke up like this' look lately as I always seem to be in such a rush getting ready in the morning, sleep > makeup. As I've been working on my skincare routine and clearing up my acne scarring I've cut down my base to a much more simpler routine without the heavy coverage and I'm absolutely loving it. It's crazy how much confidence something a simple as clearing up scaring can boost your confidence!

If I Could Only Own 5 Makeup Products

If I Could Only Own 5 Makeup Products
Cutting my makeup collection down to just 5 products would be a real challenge, in fact I think it would be more like a nightmare than a challenge but if I had to for the sake of this post then there's 5 stand out products I couldn't be without. Whist I'm always trying new products these are the ones that just seem to work for me, the ones I find myself rushing out to repurchase when I run out, I like to call them my ultimate holy grails.

Sephora Haul: New York Edition

Sephora is every makeup lovers dream, it's the one place we get to release our inner makeup addict and go crazy swatching things, filling our baskets up with new products and of course those addictive little minis by the till that you have to buy because they look so cute. When we booked to go to New York I must admit visiting Sephora was one of the things I was most excited for so to say I've finally walked through those doors feels like an achievement I need some kind of an award for, or at least a sticker.

New York In Photos

I can't believe it's already been over a week since we headed off to New York, it suddenly came round so fast after counting it down from 280 something days and I'm still not ready to accept the fact it's actually over - can I go back to the shopping trips and endless cups of Dunkin' Donuts Iced Coffee aka the best drink EVER. My brains still in holiday mode, I'm not ready to resume normal life yet and I'm already planning my next adventure so I thought I'd sit down and write up a post about the trip!

Rediscovering An Old Favourite: Revlon Colorstay

Revlon Colorstay is a real throwback product for me, I started using it back in 2012 when I first got into the world of blogging and it was one of the first products I properly reviewed on my blog (here's the link if you fancy an old school 2012 blog post to read, I should really update the post but I love keeping my old posts as they are to cringe at). As I've recently got back into fake tanning and most of my foundations are in my usual ghostly shade I needed to pick up a darker shade foundation and as I wasn't sure how long I was going to keep up with the tanning I thought I'd only get a drugstore foundation so I don't dip out on too much money if I don't keep it up.

A New Blog Layout + A Little Life Update

It really doesn't feel like it's been almost 5 years since I sat down to start this little blog. Whilst I've been running SColvinBeauty all that time, I've always gone through stages of loving blogging and sticking to a schedule and then stages were I was lucky to get one post up a month. I think my health plays a big part in that, then there's times I feel like I lose my blogging spark as well as times my life gets really busy but it's only been recently I've decided I really want to put a lot of effort back into blogging and to get my blog to the place I want it to be.

Worth The Hype? | Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette

The Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance palette has been raved about just about everywhere since it's release last year. I think it's been one of the most hyped up palettes for a long time now and it seems like everyones featuring it in tutorials and makeup looks which meant it quickly sold out and was hard to get hold of for a while. Me being the makeup addict I am got my hands on this palette shortly after it's release and as I haven't actually spoke about it much on my blog I thought it was time I dedicate a post to it and share if I think it's really worth the hype.

Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer Review

Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer Vanilla Review
Nars will forever be one of my favourite makeup brands, everything I've tried from the brand so far I've loved. When I first heard about the new Soft Matte Complete Concealer I think my heart skipped a beat so of course I had to order it as soon as it launched on the Space NK website. I'm a massive fan of Nars bases with Sheer Glow being one of my favourite foundations and the Radiant Creamy Concealer being a holy grail (I'm sure you're sick of me constantly declaring my love for it) so you can imagine how excited I was when I heard about this new release.

Products I'm Currently Loving #6

Because it's too late to be a January favourites and too early to be February favourites I thought I'd share a products I'm currently loving post because they're one of my favourites to write. I'd originally planned on getting this post up yesterday (valentines day, hence the "currently loving') because ya know makeup is the love of my life but as usual I didn't actually get it up on time, no surprise there Samm.

A Little Space NK Haul

With February being my birth month (aka the month I use as an excuse to buy myself new things) I decided to treat myself to a little Space NK order. Although I only picked up 3 things, Space NK is certainly a splurgy 'treat yo self' type of store so whilst it might not look a lot, it certainly did some damage to my bank balance! Whilst I should really be saving as it's now only 55 days till we're off to New York (I'm getting so excited now, eeeep!) you only turn 21 once so I've made the most of this fact but after my actual birthday's here it's time to actually save!

New In: MAC Prep + Prime Essential Oils

I feel like MAC have really upped their game with the releases recently, there's been so many products that have caught my eye but one in particular was the Essential Oils. Whilst the Essential Oils aren't actually a new product, they've been around and well loved by many makeup artists for years now, MAC have added new blends to the lineup so there's now Yuzu, Grapefruit & Camomile (the one I went for) and Sweet Orange & Lavender to choose from. There's also a stick form which is a great option for easier application, you simply apply the balm to any areas you need to, it's a great option for those who find oils messy or you just simply want a quicker application.

My Current Holy Grail Skincare Saviours

My skin has been in full blown meltdown mode recently and I think it's been the combination of being ill plus the excessive amount of chocolate and fizzy drinks I consumed over the festive period that's left my skin incredibly angry with me. I've never had perfect skin, I suffered from acne as a teen and whilst my skins a lot clearer now, I still do have to battle the occasional breakout. My skins always been sensitive towards certain foods (especially dairy *sobs*) so as well as getting back into eating healthier and drinking plenty of water I've also been relying on some of my favourite blemish busting products to bring my skin back to life.

A Little Life Update

Well hello there... it's been a while! I can't believe we're now already 18 days into the new year and I'm only just getting round to sharing my first blog post of 2017. Whilst I wanted it to be a more interesting makeup related post to start the year with it just wasn't happening. I explained a little bit about my social media absence over on Instagram a few days ago but I thought it was about time I got a blog post up about what's been going on. I'd actually planned on making 2017 a great blogging year for me but I think I've ended up jinxing myself!
